Connecting a Financial Institution to Your Olomon Account

Connecting your financial institutions to Olomon allows you to maintain an accurate and up-to-date view of your financial situation.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This guide will walk you through the process of linking your financial accounts to Olomon, ensuring you have the most current information for managing your personal and family finances.

Why Connect Your Financial Institutions?

A value's accuracy depends on the age of the number. An account balance from last week or even from yesterday may be drastically different from the current balance. How can you really have an accurate understanding of your complete financial picture if your numbers are old and out of date? When you connect your financial institution to Olomon, we sync your accounts so that your balance sheet is always up-to-date. This not only helps you track your financial health more effectively but also enables you to provide accurate financial information to bankers, loan officers, financial advisors, or anyone involved in your financial planning.

Steps to Connect a Financial Institution

1. Click the "Add" button at the top of the Balances page.

2. Select from the list of popular financial institutions,

or click in the Search bar to find yours among the thousands of financial institutions available through our integration partners.

Can't find your institution?

We're working on extending our reach through additional integration providers. Please let us know ([email protected]) which institution you couldn't find so that we can make note of the gap.

3. Authenticate into your account.

Please note: There are 3 different ways you might be asked to authenticate.

Method 1: Securely entering your Financial Institution username and password ("oauth")

This is perhaps the most common method at that moment.

Method 2: Via an Olomon-specific App Password

Many financial institutions have introduced a new security requirement: instead of logging in with your regular password, you may need to create a unique “App Password” specifically for third-party apps like Olomon.

If prompted, you’ll need to generate an App Password from your financial institution’s online portal before attempting to connect your account.

Then return to Olomon, enter the username you use to log into your Financial Institution, and the App Password that you just created for Olomon.

Method 3: By signing into your Plaid account

This method only applies if (1) you have previously created a Plaid account and (2) your financial institution is connected to Olomon through Plaid versus one of our other integration partners.

That's it!

Once your financial institution has been connected to your Olomon account, it might take a few minutes for the data to finish syncing into your Olomon Account.

Once the syncing has finished, each of the accounts that you selected to sync with Olomon will now appear at the top on your Balances page.

You'll then be able to organize them into Sections and Groups.

A few things to note:

You can specify that accounts are held in an Entity:

If you previously manually created a record for an account that was automatically imported, you'll want to archive or delete the original manual account in order to avoid duplication in your Net Worth. There is currently no option to "merge" items.

Managing Connected Sources

In order to see and manage all of the Financial Institutions that you have connected to Olomon, head to the Connected Sources page by clicking on the Cog icon at the top of the Balances page.

Security and Privacy

Olomon prioritizes the security of your financial data. We use advanced encryption and authentication protocols to protect your information. Your data is never sold, and you control who has access to your account information.

Troubleshooting Tips

Connection issues

If you encounter difficulties linking an account, first ensure that you know what type of credentials your Financial Institution is asking for.

  • Are you being asked to enter an app-specific "App Password"?

    • If so, then you'll need to first log into your Financial Institution and create an App Password for Olomon.

  • If you don't see the phrase "App Password", then enter the username and password that you use to log into your Financial Institution.

Accounts are no longer updating

If your account details are not updating, go to the Connected Sources page and follow the steps to reauthorize the connection to your Financial Institution.

Using a different integration partner

Olomon is designed to automatically choose the best integration partner for your financial institution. However, if you're experiencing issues with the default connection, you do have the option to try connecting through a different integration partner.

Please note: not all partners support every institution, so availability may vary.

To explore this option, you can manually search for your institution using one of the following direct links:

Click a link above and follow the same connection steps as you would in the main app experience.
